Seven Killed in Helicopter Crash at Ololokwe Mountain
Seven people have died after a Eurocopter EC130 B4 helicopter operated by charter company Lady Lori crashed at Ololokwe Mountain in Samburu County on Wednesday morning.
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) confirmed that the helicopter, registration number 5Y-GYM, was conducting a flight from Loisaba to Ewaso Nyiro when the accident occurred.
All seven occupants aboard the aircraft were confirmed dead.The deceased include the pilot, Josh Outran, and six passengers identified as Roger Duarte, Adam Navaty, Stephen Vasconquez, Henry Parra, Michael Contugi and Suian Suarez.
The crash occurred at Ololokwe Mountain, an area known for its rugged terrain and scenic landscape in Samburu County.
Authorities are expected to conduct investigations to establish the circumstances that led to the crash. The investigation will seek to determine the possible cause of the accident and establish whether there were any factors relating to the aircraft, weather, flight operations or other circumstances.
The incident has renewed attention on aviation safety, particularly the need for strict adherence to flight safety procedures and thorough investigations whenever aircraft accidents occur.
