Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Azimio la Umoja co-principal Justin Bedan (JB) Muturi have called for a free, fair and secure Ol Kalou by-election, expressing concern over what they described as threats to democracy and the rule of law.

The leaders spoke on Sunday during public engagements in Ndumberi and Kiambu Town after attending a church service. They also officially opened a Wiper Patriotic Front office in Kiambu.

Addressing residents, Musyoka and Muturi alleged that recent events in Ol Kalou, including the interception, vandalism and burning of a Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) vehicle, as well as claims of voter bribery and electoral malpractice, could undermine the credibility of the by-election.

They criticised the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for what they termed as silence over the reported incidents, urging the electoral body to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.

The leaders maintained that the Ol Kalou by-election should proceed as scheduled and warned against any attempts to postpone or cancel the exercise.

Musyoka said the electoral process must be conducted in a transparent, peaceful and credible manner to uphold the constitutional rights of voters.

Muturi emphasised the need to guarantee the safety and security of voters, candidates, election officials and all stakeholders participating in the by-election.

The two leaders further stated that they would continue monitoring developments in the constituency and called for accountability for anyone found culpable of violating electoral laws
